Welcome to the Prep Unit!

The Prep Learning Unit consists of 4 grades, and 77 children. The teachers of the Prep unit include Jo Barry (Team Leader), Nigel Holloway, Blanche Cook and Carly Fantini.   Jenni Koehler works as a Curriculum Coach with the Prep Learning Unit. This involves working with the unit to support them with their planning and classroom teaching.

We all ensure that we provide a learning environment which is stimulating and challenging. We work hard to provide learning activities that cater for individual needs and abilities. We understand that all students are unique and are different.

The Prep curriculum covers a variety of subject areas including Literacy, Numeracy, Deep Knowledge and You Can Do It. Each class participates in a two hour Literacy session each day, covering Reading, Writing and Oral Language (Speaking and Listening). A one hour session of Numeracy occurs each day, covering topics under the strands of Number, Space, Measurement, Chance and data, and Working Mathematically. Deep Knowledge units covered during the year include, 'Who am I?', 'What's Alive?', 'The World around us' and 'Needs and Wants'. The students also participate in specialist classes including Art, Drama, Library, P.E., Music, LOTE (French).
